About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Coordinator of Basketball Operations supports the overall success of the SMU Women’s Basketball program by managing key operational, administrative, and culture‑building responsibilities. This role ensures that team schedules, marketing initiatives, gear operations, and program events run efficiently and in alignment with the Head Coach’s vision.
Essential Functions:
Team Schedule Management - Manage Team’s daily & weekly schedule, ensuring accuracy, & clarity.
Input, update, & maintain all scheduled events in TeamWorks, including practice times, team meetings, film sessions, strength & conditioning events, team workouts, etc.
Track schedule changes in real time & proactively adjust logistics as needed.
Marketing Liaison & Brand Alignment - Serve as the primary liaison between WBB & Athletics Marketing Department, ensuring consistent communication & execution of promotional initiatives.
Collaborate with marketing staff to develop & refine a season-long marketing plan, that reflects HC vision for program, identity, fan engagement & community presence.
Team Gear Management & Apparel Coordination - Oversee all aspects of team gear distribution & inventory, ensuring every student-athlete & staff member receives the correct items for practices, games, travel & community events.
Assist Equipment Manager in the order process ensuring accuracy in quantities, and delivery timelines.
Track sizing information for team, maintaining updated sizes & ensuring proper fit for performance & comfort.
Maintain a detailed inventory system, monitoring stock levels, identifying shortages & planning reorders as needed.
Team Events & Program Culture Initiatives - Plan & execute team-building activities, bonding events, & culture-driven experiences throughout the year.
Organize logistics for team meals, celebrations, holiday events, & special occasions, ensuring smooth execution & alignment with program values.
Locker Room Management & Organization - Oversee daily locker room upkeep, organization, and presentation, maintaining a professional & welcoming environment for student athletes and guests.
Manage inventory & restocking of essential items, including toiletries, hydration, supplies & snacks.
Ensure proper pre/post practice meals are ordered, arrive timely, & correct.
Prepare visit materials, such as welcome packets, graphics, & branded items in alignment with program standards.
Work closely with HC and Director of Basketball Operations to support the overall operational efficiency of the program.
Represent the program with professionalism & positivity, contributing to a culture of excellence & student-athlete support.
Other duties as assigned.
This position requires regular evening and/or weekend work for practices and competitions. Travel for games and competitions is also required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s is required.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience is required. Experience in college athletics is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and advanced skills in Excel. Experience with various basketball software programs for game film and recruiting, is a plus. Candidate must be able to work evening and/or weekend work hours, including for practices and competitions, is required. Candidate ability to travel for games and competition is required.
