Apply NowWorks closely with the Department of Athletics Communications to develop creative elements and implement social and digital strategies.
Helps manage the day-to-day creative content for all official department and team social media accounts.
Works with support staff, coaches and student-athletes to recognize program priorities and develop strategies to meet goals.
Ensures that content is consistent with the overall brand, look and feel of Youngstown State University and also that of the departments served.
Provides social media best practices to staff, coaches and student-athletes.
Assists in the recruiting, managing, training and scheduling of department graphic design, video and photography student staff.
Aids in sponsorship fulfillment through the creation of videos and content.
Assists with social media strategy and content development for main university accounts.
Acts as liaison and point of contact with athletics for all social media communication.
Supports the university during crisis communication incidents.
Plans, scripts and produces cohesive creative social media strategy that supports the admission and enrollment of students.
Develops social media guidelines and strategies as needed.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, travel and nontraditional hours, as needed.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise supervision over student employees.

Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: University policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; department/division policies and procedures*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management.
Skill in: Editing; written and verbal communication; time management and organization; use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.
Ability to: Collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one tasks to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, broadcasting, journalism, marketing, communications, or related field. Experience maintaining multiple social media channels and working with social media monitoring/scheduling tools. Proficient experience utilizing Photoshop, Canva, InDesign and Premiere. Knowledge of current social and digital media trends and specifications, specifically in College Athletics.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience creating and implementing communications plans. Knowledge of AP style. Ability to multitask and manage priorities from multiple departments. Experience in creating effective social content plans and marketing campaigns.
