The Data Specialist II is responsible for timely and accurate completion of processing donations to Syracuse University received via mail, electronic submission, data import or phone. Specifically this includes data input, entry, research, confirmation, scanning and assigning gifts to individual donor records with strict adherence to guidelines for recognition credit. Maintaining data integrity in the Citrus database based on University policies and procedures is required of this work. Additional responsibilities include updating/ adding donor biographical information as needed at the time of processing. Retrieve and batch Athletic gifts in preparation of import and processing in Citrus. Make recommendations for gift modifications and/or payments against pledges based on donor instructions and verification of data. Position requires work hours during the period of December 15 – January 2 (excluding legal holidays) when the university may post alternative work schedules.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Associate’s degree required, with a combination of education and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required. Demonstrated prior work with confidential and sensitive data/information is required.
Experience working with Databases and Excel required. Knowledge of development work helpful. Experience processing donations in all forms: such as Athletics, Donor Advised Funds, Ira’s, Stocks, etc. Very strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize workflow. Ability to work well independently or within a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills. Familiarity with all Microsoft Office 365 programs.
Daily Gift Processing: Data input, entry, research, confirmation, scanning and assigning gifts to individual donor records. Provide timely entry and processing of online gifts through iModules, manual credit cards by mail, checks/cash from mail or internal departments, and Campus Call imports from student calling. This includes assigning gifts to individual donor records with strict adherence to guidelines for recognition credit, as well as scanning of all supporting documents into Onbase for all donations processed on a given day. All entry is to be completed consistent with compliance to University and divisional policies, procedures and protocols. Athletic Gift Processing: Data input, entry, research, confirmation, scanning and assigning gifts to individual donor records related to gifts to athletics. This includes managing downloaded records from Archtics, Athletic gifts made and preparing report for import processing within the Citrus database. Follow up with Athletics regarding any questions of donations or refunds made on report. Provide services of check scanning for submission to the bank on a rotating basis to provide internal data integrity and separation of duties. Training and Data input: Biographical updates Provide/input updates to records that are needed to a donor’s address, phone, email or other data fields that are provide with a donation. Attend all required training, including department/division- wide training, as required to learn and or update system tools, platforms, and Microsoft Office products. Other duties as assigned.
