Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Defensive Coordinator for Football. The candidate would be expected to perform duties, under the supervision of the Head Coach, in an FCS Division I Football Program. The candidate would also be responsible for overseeing and managing the defensive coaching staff as it relates to game and practice preparation and management. Bachelor’s degree. Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills. Possess an understanding of NCAA recruiting rules and policies. Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities in total compliance with the rules, regulations, and guidelines set forth by the NCAA, the CAA (Coastal Athletic Association), and Monmouth University. Possess a strong understanding of Monmouth University’s concern for academic and Athletic excellence. Playing and coaching experience at the collegiate level required. Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as requested. Physical ability to lift, move, push, and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs. Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.

Job Duties
Practice and Game Responsibilities1. Primary responsibility for the coordination of the overall defense including: Creation of team defensive playbook. Preparation and coordination of daily defensive practice schedules and practices. Preparation and coordination of daily defensive unit and position meetings. 2. Primary responsibility for creation, coordination and implementation of defensive game plan strategies for each game which will include scouting, video breakdowns, opponent analysis, practice plans, game day organization and other areas related to defensive game preparation. 3. Responsible for oversight and guidance of the defensive coaching staff. 4. Responsible for assigning responsibilities to the defensive coaching staff as it relates to scouting, preparation, game planning, and practice. 5. Responsible for coordination and supervision of other defensive coaches including evaluation of defensive coaching staff in order to provide the Head Coach with recommendations on hiring and renewal of contracts. 6. Responsible for assisting with the coaching of special teams as needed and assigned. 7. Responsible for coaching a defensive position group (to be determined).

Administrative Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for long-range planning and research of new strategies, techniques, and trends in both defensive and offense football.2. Responsible for tracking defensive statistics and rankings for quality control and self-analysis purposes.3. Responsible for oversight of defensive video cut-ups.4. Responsible for monitoring the week-to-week performance of defensive players for purposes of evaluation of scheme, technique, and future planning.5. Monitoring the academic progress of the defensive unit and a specific defensive position group.6. Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Responsible for developing and implementing a recruiting plan and strategies for the evaluation of prospects within a defined geographic area which includes identification of potential prospects, arranging recruiting trips, and other activities necessary to recruit appropriate student-athletes for the football program.2. Responsible for oversight of the defensive depth chart as it relates to defensive and football program personnel needs.
