Position Description
This position reports to the Director of Athletics and provides strategic leadership to the department.
The Deputy Athletic Director will be responsible for leading many external relations functions for the Department of Athletics with specific emphasis upon generation of revenue and development of public support and exposure for Seattle University and its sports programs. The Deputy Athletics Director will will provide strategic direction, leadership, and oversight to the external functions and revenue generation for the department, including marketing and fan experience, event promotion, corporate partnerships, merchandise, licensing, capital projects and finance and business administration aligning with goals of the university’s and athletics department strategic plans. Additionally, the deputy athletics director will provide strategic direction and support to promote the welfare of student athletes as well as their competitive success.

Position Description

Additionally, the deputy athletics director will provide strategic direction and support to promote the welfare of student athletes as well as their competitive success.
This position supervises Associate AD for Facilities and Operations, Associate AD for Strategic Communications, Assistant AD for Marketing & Fan Experience, Assistant AD for Business and Finance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee areas of strategic communications.
Oversee game day experience for all SU constituents including fans, students, donors, and partners.
Oversee the relationship with SU’s ticketing, merchandise and licensing partners.
Develop plans and initiatives that maximize revenues, including oversight of all customer service efforts, marketing, advertising, and promotions.
Develop and execute plans to support high level fan engagement and brand advancement.
Advance the mission and build support for Seattle Athletics on campus and externally.
Provide leadership and oversight of NIL program.
Oversee areas of facilities & event operations
Provide oversight of capital projects and facility planning, working collaboratively with on campus and off campus partners to ensure quality experience for all student athletes and fans.
Ensure policies, procedures and protocol are well articulated and promote the welfare of student athletes and staff and support competitive success of the athletics programs.
Provide oversight of external rentals and camps.
Provide oversight of finance and business operations, assisting with the development of the annual department budget, forecasting, and strategic initiatives as directed.
Manage relationships with equipment and apparel partner.
Serve as sport administrator for appointed teams.
Serve as a supervisor and budget manager as specified.
Comply with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Athletics.

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $135,000 - $150,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
