Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Assoc. AD / Branding & Digital Strategy, the USF Digital Content Manager will manage the athletic department's highest-visibility social media channels (main athletics & football) while providing strategy and support to all social media efforts across the organization. This individual will have a multi-disciplinary skill set with the ability to strategize and plan social campaigns, ideate and create content, publish and drive community engagement, monitor trends and conversation and measure impact. Works in a highly collaborative environment to advance the brand of USF Athletics and the university. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the development and implementation of social media strategy & initiatives, using visual storytelling to enhance the South Florida Athletics brand. Responsible for day-to-day content management & posting for the main athletics & football accounts - planning, scheduling, and executing creative assets for all social channels
Project manage high-impact campaigns and effectively communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders including coaches, administrators and staff from communications, marketing and creative. Lead the efforts on strategic campaign planning & strategy throughout the year in collaboration with the Associate AD for Branding & Digital Strategy
Capture and edit photography, and produce graphics and video as needed to support content efforts. Perform the role with an `always on? approach to social media, constantly monitoring athletes, celebrities, influencers, and trends.
Measure content and campaign success against department KPIs, and use data to continuously optimize strategy and workflow. Manage sponsorship and marketing activations through social media, developing promotions that foster lead and/or revenue generation
Creatively engage fans on social media before, during, and after sporting events to build audience, creating social assets (highlight clips, GIF, graphics, etc.) and posting to the appropriate platforms.
Performs other duties as assigned
Responsible to recruit, supervise, hire graduate assistants, interns or other OPS employees that may assist in the execution of digital strategies and projects
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's degree and three years experience working in college athletics or professional sports. Strong working knowledge and demonstrated experience with social media, graphic design, HTML coding and video production. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including a passion for copywriting. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe software.
