Tom & Candy Knudson Director of Navy Rowing,

Head Men’s Heavyweight Rowing Coach

The U.S. Naval Academy, a NCAA Division I institution, is seeking a strong leader in the role of Tom & Candy Knudson Director of Navy Rowing, Head Heavyweight Men’s Coach. This position will manage the Crew Boathouse located on the Yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring and developing both coaches and midshipmen. The position will also be responsible for engaging and growing alumni support. This role will drive the efforts of building the legacy of excellence and growing the Navy rowing programs. The position will be responsible for such initiatives as fundraising, community service and developing valuable relationships across the Yard.

As the Head Coach of the Heavyweight Men’s Crew, this position will develop, oversee and administer rowing programs. Responsibilities includeall aspects of the management and coaching of a Division I rowing program, both on and off-campus recruiting, and summer camps. The successful candidate will build relationships with the student-athletes, communicate expectations, logistics, the vision and mentor and create a positive team culture. The position will stay ahead and aware of trends in rowing to keep the program competitive, enriching and safe. We are looking for strong leadership and coaching skills, innovation and relationship building skills.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree, experience coaching rowing, ability to recruit academically and athletically qualified students for the Naval Academy; have knowledge of NCAA rules; ability to abide by NCAA and Naval Academy rules and regulations.
