Position Summary

Plans, develops, administers, and coordinate all operations of the Athletic Department Facilities that adheres to all University, Horizon League, and NCAA rules and regulations while providing a safe and accepting environment for coaches, staff and student-athletes to grow and develop academically, athletically and encourages personal responsibility, sportsmanship and service to others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the athletic facilities, equipment and concessions department(s): hire, train, direct, and evaluate employee performance in all areas.

• Coordinate all Athletic capital projects and work with University Facility Operations on project execution.
• Build internal and external relationships to further extend the reach of the brand across the Detroit Mercy campus and community.
• Hire, schedule and supervise student-worker and building staff, and Athletic Department Facilities Interns.
• Supervise Assistant Director of Operations and Athletics Equipment Manager.
• Manage and execute events including logistics requiring coordination with internal and external partners in an effective and efficient manner and acting as the primary point of contact.
• Coordinate special events; monitor planning, schedules and implementation as required for proper execution of each event.
• Coordinate physical setup and breakdown for events in Calihan Hall and athletic facilities.
• Maintain special event inventory such as chairs, tables, skirting, and staging.
• Coordinate all game operations and event management duties including set-up/tear down, in-game and post-game responsibilities.
• Oversee the assignment of game day staffing such as parking, ushering, public safety, facilities operations, and housekeeping.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years to five years experience.
• A college degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to travel extensively.
• Must be able to drive 15 passenger vans.
• Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends, often more than 60 hours per week, during the academic year.
• Well-polished communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must possess PC skills.
• Must be able to coordinate a variety of projects.

Physical Requirements

Job requires repetitively lifting average weight objects with repetitive bending and stooping. Frequently lifts heavy objects but alternating with lighter activities. Job may require physical exertion such as long periods of standing. Job may require above-average agility and dexterity.

Work Environment

Regular exposure to unfavorable conditions such as weather conditions, or confined, noisy, or dirty locations.

Licenses/Certifications

A Valid Driver License.

Salary/Pay Information

Commensurate with experience.

Anticipated Schedule

Normal work hours, with nights and weekends as necessary.
