Director for Broadcast Operations, Athletic Communications
Long Island University (LIU), an NCAA DI institution, is seeking a Director for Broadcast Operations, Athletic Communications. The Director for Broadcast Operations is a member of the LIU Athletics Communications team and provides oversight of all broadcast communications, media relations, broadcast crew hiring and training and other operations areas as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications.
This position works closely with university staff and is responsible for maintaining contact with all internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications, this position provides oversight of LIU Athletics broadcasting information and communications, maintains an active role in the assignment of gameday duties, and serves as liaison to university staff for the purposes of broadcast operations. This position is based on the Long Island University Post campus, but requires oversight, and an active presence, of communications, broadcast, media relations, and sports information operations for all sports programs at both the Post and Brooklyn campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees in the management of LIU Athletics televised brand and serve as the main partner and point-of-contact for the department's digital, video, and graphic content.
Responsible for productions of live, and recorded, sporting events and maintaining brand principles in doing so.
Executing the venue video boards and live sporting events for LIU Athletics, including all linear tv games and streamed broadcasts. Assist with any needs related to sound production for live events.
Working closely with external and coaching staffs to establish the design and content for electronic communications, athletic marketing, radio/internet broadcast, and ticket sales initiatives, and development campaigns.
Manage the hiring and training of student interns for game day and daily workflow within the Athletic Communication department.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
Two (2) years of full-time experience working in collegiate or professional Broadcast Operations, Athletic Communications, Sports Information, Media Relations, Sports Journalism, and Sports Marketing.
Understanding of managing on-site production at multiple venues (Brookville and Brooklyn campuses) and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Prior experience with multi-media platforms, motion graphics, live-event TV production and camera operation (TriCaster or production truck experience).
Experience with general graphic design principles, typography, and color theory as well as the production process for print and digital media (AJT, LiveBook GFX or other programs).
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an NCAA Athletics program. Experience working large-scale events in collegiate or professional sports.
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, or a related degree.
Work Schedule:
Requires the ability to work occasional nights, weekends, and some holidays.
