The Director of Athletic Bands directs and leads the Marching Band and Pep Band at scheduled events (mid-August through mid-March). This position is responsible for outlining, supporting, and executing the strategic vision of Calvin’s athletic band program through quality musicianship, strong leadership, and professional collaboration. The Director of Athletic Bands will work closely with the Director of Bands.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Outline, support, and execute the strategic vision of Calvin’s athletic band program
Provide expertise and guidance to planning sessions for establishment of the Marching Band
Actively engage in planning sessions to enhance and develop Pep Band (i.e., Basketball Band)
Provide musical and administrative leadership for both athletic bands (Marching Band, Pep Band)
Determine appropriate programming
Design effective drill and coordinate appropriate visual elements
Maintain inventory of instruments, equipment, and uniforms
Schedule, plan, and lead rehearsals and performances
Coordinate and communicate closely with Athletics
Serve as a collaborative member of Calvin’s music program
