Director of Athletic Communications

The Director of Athletic Communications, who reports to the Senior Associate AD for External Operations, will serve to expand the overall awareness of the University, athletics department, student-athletes, and coaches to the faculty/staff on-campus and in the greater community as well as support the public relations value for the university’s mission and vision. This position will serve as the primary Communications contact for five to ten assigned sports.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Good driving record, valid driver’s license, and successful background check are required.

| Preferred Qualifications |
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years related experience in sports information, media relations or athletic communications. Experience as a lead communications representative for two or more programs is preferred.

| Knowledge/Skills/Abilities |
Able to travel frequently with sports teams. Ability to work long hours, nights and weekends. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as they relate to communications and public relations. Proficiency of StatCrew and NCAA Genius stat programs, InDesign, PhotoShop, social media platforms, shooting/editing video, and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations that pertain to athletic communications is beneficial.

Create graphics for use on the departmental website and social media, and edit game/event/interview highlight clips for the website and social media.
