TITLE: Director of Athletic Communications

FLSA STATUS: Exempt (Salary) Full-Time

DEPARTMENT: Athletics

REPORTS TO: Director or Intercollegiate Athletics

PRIMARY PURPOSE / POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Athletic Communications is a full-time position in the Department of Athletics. The position reports to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Director of Athletic Communications is sensitive to the needs of a diverse student body and is committed to assisting the Department of Athletics in enhancing and supporting the student development experience consistent with the mission of a Sinsinawa Dominican Catholic liberal arts university.

JOB COMPONENTS / PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Athletic Communication is responsible for but not limited to:

1. Adhering to conference, NCAA, Title IX, Department of Athletics and University rules and regulations;

2. Managing Department of Athletics events including:

   • Oversight of athletics events;
   • Managing the communications operating budget;
   • Directing and supervising all communications support staff;
   • Overseeing all Department of Athletics marketing and branding;
   • Coordinating the video tape exchange process for all home contests in accordance with conference guidelines;
   • Coordinating bids for hosting national tournament events;
   • Coordinating “live” coverage for all home Department of Athletics events;
   • Managing all aspects of the Department of Athletics website,www.dustars.com;

3. Maintaining inventory of Department of Athletics electronic equipment and record books;

4. Assisting with the Department of Athletics special events; including coordinating and serving on the Hall of Fame committee;

5. Serving as the liaison to University departments such as Marketing and Communications, External Engagements and Information Technology.

6. Accepting and fulfilling other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM//REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Proficiency with NCAA Division III rules and regulations
• Ability to work evenings and weekends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in related field preferred
• Strong leadership and collaborative abilities
• Ability to multi-task effectively and strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Competence with computer skills
• Ability to thrive in a diverse and growing environment
