Job Description

The Director of Athletic Development is responsible for overseeing the athletic fundraising program and for the administration, marketing, and supervision of the major gifts/planned giving program. This includes cultivation and solicitation of special gift prospects. Based on performance, this position has significant opportunity for growth and professional advancement.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Athletics Duties

• In conjunction with key volunteers, supports the work of the Lions Athletic Club.
• Develops a major gift program for athletic fundraising.
• Works in collaboration with the athletic director to identify hospitality opportunities to host athletic donors at athletic events on campus.

 

Major Gifts Duties

• Develops and engages a gift portfolio of approximately 50 major gift donors and/or prospects, of which 25 are athletic major gift prospects.
• Helps coordinate special and capital fundraising projects as needed.
• Assists in the planning and preparation of comprehensive campaigns.

 

Administrative Duties

• Promotes the concept of giving among all constituents of the University.
• Serves as a resource person for development staff on matters relating to major gifts and athletic fundraising.
• Supports the overall goals of the Advancement Office.
• Works closely with the management and stewardship of University scholarships.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
• 2 years minimum of fundraising experience preferred with documented success in the cultivation and securing major gifts.
• Broad based computer skills inclusive of Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
• Athletic fundraising experience is preferred.
• Commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
