The Director of Broadcast/B1G+ will work as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Broadcasting and Production staff, and be under the direct supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director of TerpVision and Video Operations. The Director of Broadcast/B1G+ is responsible for all live broadcasts (100+) of Maryland Athletics that stream on B1G+ including scripting, live camera switching, leading onsite equipment set up, transmission testing with applicable network and direct report/student/freelance staff. This position will manage the recruiting of, hiring and training of student staff on the operation of B1G+ production equipment and new dedicated broadcast control room; Manage on-site operations of B1G+, and coordinate the needs of the Big Ten Network (BTN) such as press conferences, studio operations, live stream proposals and talkbacks; Build game day graphics and other elements to be included in streamed broadcasts such as score bugs, starting lineup headshots, story lines for talent, replay wipes and other features.The Director of Broadcast/B1G+ will oversee the department’s coaches video responsibilities and directly supervise direct reports to assist with these endeavors. The Director will also be responsible for assisting TerpVision with staffing and game day operations. Assist in inventory and preventative maintenance of production equipment. They will collaborate with other members of the Broadcasting and Production (B&P) unit with content creation, graphic design, show production, etc on non-B1G+ events as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Production, or related field;Experience: Five (5) to six (6) years experience in live production, including student productions that go to air; Two (2) to three (3) years experience in technical directing and producing. Experience in ENG shooting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of trends in producing professional-quality live broadcasts Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects Knowledge of NewTek Tricaster and 3Play systems Ability to troubleshoot broadcast equipment Knowledge of Division-1 athletic departments Knowledge of Ross Xpression and Acuity Systems, EVS replay, Sony Broadcast cameras and Daktronics LED and video display systems.
Preferences: Five (5) to six (6) years experience in live production, including student productions that go to air, and two (2) to three (3) years experience in technical directing and producing at a NCAA Division I Power 5 university or within a professional sports environment are preferred. Experience working with students and interns on live productions is preferred.

The scope of the position frequently requires weekend and evening work (Non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office and video equipment such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, cameras, etc; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and lifting up to 40 pounds.
