Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Director of Broadcast Services develops, organizes and supervises audio/ visual technology services for athletic events for all 2 intercollegiate programs, including, but not limited to: utility delivery; equipment and facility maintenance; sound reinforcement; video and broadcast streaming and production for multiple platforms. The position supports revenue generation through digital media as well as game day experience as it relates to digital assets. The position also provides support and stage craft services as required for other sporting events, university events and other facility users. To provide additional support from Information Technology, the incumbent will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief Engineer.

Essential Duties and Respnsibilities:  

• Provides Engineer in Charge (EIC) duties for live sporting and special events for the  Department of Athletics and, at times, for University events such as speakers, graduation, and facility rentals.  

• Oversees and assists with live video broadcasting and streaming on multiple platforms,  including ESPN+, Sidearm, as well as post production content for the athletics website and sport teams as appropriate, and other related content for various athletics initiatives as needed. Video production includes scheduling, shooting, editing, converting, storing, and streaming of digital video.

• Coordinates with outside production and broadcast crews, as well as third party contractors as needed, in support of live and post production events.

• Coordinates with outside production and broadcast crews, as well as third party contractors as needed, in support of live and post production events.  

• Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Fan Experience and MMR partner to develop strategy to maximize game day fan experience, ticket revenue and  sponsorship revenue through use of digital assets.  

• Collaborate with Athletic Communication colleagues to help create digital content for website, social media and other outlets from stroy-telling and branding perspectives.

• Create and develop Video Production Intern program including creation of job descriptions,  recruiting of student interns, and oversight of graduate assistants as available.  

• Manages access to and storage of digital assets related to the duties herein.  

• Maintains a detailed and comprehensive AV equipment inventory, including scoreboard  and signage equipment in Hagan arena and other athletics venues.  

• Provides preventative maintenance services for equipment; executes a schedule of  preventative maintenance so that all equipment receives a cyclical routine evaluation.

• Develops and manages operating budget plans to support the equipment, maintenance,  and other needs associated with the previously outlined technology services.  

• As the EIC, functions as a resource for Athletics, incorporating electronic media into  coaching, marketing, advancement, media relations and other appropriate areas in Athletics; assist in evaluating and creating graphics packages; assist in creation of digital  content for in-venue, streaming, social media and sjuhawks.com.  

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Works with the IT engineering team to maintain high quality digital signage equipment  and content. 

• Works closely with IT Infrastructure Services, Technical Support Services, and the Project  Management Office for capital project planning and execution.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education/Training and Experience) 

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree or five years’ relevant experience in managing AV services, including live and streaming production systems.  

• 1-3 years’ experience operating video production switchers, game replay systems, audio  consoles, and house sound systems.  

• Demonstrated ability to effectively operate a video camera and production equipment.

• Knowledge of basic on set production setups such as three point lighting, microphone  placement and video capture.  

• Knowledge of system set up and troubleshooting analog and digital Audio Visual  production systems.  

• Track record of excellent interpersonal and communication skills and providing  exceptional service to internal and external constituents.  

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and be a creative self starter.  

• Ability to adapt, prioritize tasks, and be decisive in a fast-paced dynamic environment  and under pressure.  

• Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with  diverse constituents.

• Must possess strong skills in planning, organizing and logistics.  

• Adherence to NCAA and member conference rules and regulations.  

• May be required to obtain First Aid, CPR, motor vehicle safety certification, and other  job-related certifications.  

Preferred

• Experience operating a Newtek TriCaster.

• Experience in an athletics environment.  

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:  

• Must be able to work in various environmental conditions and climb/descend stairs and  ladders while carrying 50 lbs. of A/V equipment.

• Must be able to stand, lift and  climb ladders to work with equipment mounted on walls and ceilings.  

• Must be available and willing to work long days, evenings and weekends depending on event schedule.

Pay Transparency:
