Position Summary, Requirements, and Qualifications
| Overview |
Northern Illinois University (NIU) is accepting applications for the position of Director for Compliance. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, establishes and maintains a program which will ensure compliance with NCAA, conferences of which NIU is a member, and University rules and ensure proper transmission of those rules to coaches, staff members, student-athletes, and representatives of NIU athletics interests.

Northern Illinois University ,chartered in 1895, is a comprehensive teaching and research institution with over17,000 currently enrolled students and houses seven (7) degree-granting colleges—Business, Education, Engineering and Engineering Technology, Health and Human Sciences, Law, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Visual and Performing Arts. Centrally located in DeKalb, Northern Illinois University is 30 miles west of Aurora, 65 miles west of Chicago, 36 miles west of Naperville, and 45 miles southeast of Rockford.

| Position Summary |
The Director of Compliance may supervise graduate assistants and interns. This position will remain current with and uphold the rules of the University, the NCAA, conferences of which NIU is a member; monitor all areas of rules compliance; and serve as an expert resource providing interpretations to student-athletes, coaches, staff, and the University community regarding NCAA, conference, and University rules.

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Directs educational efforts for coaches, athletics staff, and student-athletes, including monthly presentation to coaches, bi-annual presentations to student-athletes, and yearly presentations to staff.
- Responds to requests from coaches, athletics staff, and student-athletes on rules interpretations.
- Manages the monitoring of recruiting contacts and evaluations, official and unofficial visits, complimentary admissions, and other recruiting activities.
- Communicate relevant recruiting rules with coaches for all athletic programs.
- Manages the initial eligibility process for all athletic programs, including initial eligibility evaluations and communication with the NCAA Eligibility Center and NIU Registration & Records.
- Oversees the creation of playing and practice season information and input the information into ARMS.
- Monitors athletically related activities via ARMS and random spot checks throughout the year.
- Serves as Compliance Office liaison for NIU Admissions and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
- Communicates with Admissions on issues related to prospective student-athletes and the admissions process.
- Participates in the annual audit of the Compliance Office.
- Assists with oversight of the NIU agent program, ensuring agents interacting with NIU student-athletes are appropriately registered and activities are permissible.
- Manages the monitoring and approval of all individual and team awards and benefits.
- Monitors coaching staff limits, NCAA off-campus recruiting certifications, outside income reporting, and safety certifications.

1. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
2. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
3. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
4. Skill in oral and written communication.
5. Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups.
6. Ability to organize and multi-task.
7. Ability to supervise and knowledge of administrative concepts and methods.
8. Ability to utilize various computer software packages.
9. Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in order to be able to analyze and investigate a variety of questions or problems.
