The Director of Creative and Digital Media for Athletics is responsible for creation and effective execution of overall content and video production strategy across all aspects of the UVA Wise Athletic Department and its 17 NCAA DII sports. Responsible for creating dynamic and engaging content to promote the UVA Wise Athletics brand. Provide oversight and strategic direction of videography and graphic design endeavors including, features, and interviews, as well as the department's social media accounts. Provides creative content in the areas of video production, photography, graphic design, social media, and publications. Manage interns and other student employees and reports to the Director of Athletics, serving as a member of the Athletic Department’s Leadership Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage the digital content strategy for the department while overseeing various types of content for the department athletic programs on various digital platforms.
• Plan, create, and implement the social and digital strategy for the athletic department
• Creation of social content which includes but not limited to videos, hype videos, interviews, graphics, photography.
• Collaborate with marketing, communications, ticketing, and advancement to execute strategies to create unique promotional content for sports programs and student-athletes.
• Assist with the planning and execution of the annual student-athlete awards event.
• Organize and manage student worker staff and photo/video equipment.
• Develop, create and distribute creative content
• Oversee all social media communication strategies through creation and implementation across all platforms
• Initiate and coordinate television, radio, digital, and print media for important events and announcements
• Work directly and collaboratively with the UVA Wise Office of Marketing and Communications
• Manage and recruit communications staff, including student employees
• Serves as a liaison to the South Atlantic Conference Office where appropriate

• Position requires the ability to work night and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1 year of experience working in creative and/or digital media
Preferred Qualification
• Master’s degree
• 3 years of experience working in creative and/or digital media with athletic emphasis
• Knowledge of in-game statistical programs (StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats, Genius).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Desktop media and other software programs (Adobe Creative Cloud Suite). Strong customer service skills and teamwork aptitude. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Experience working with outside media outlets. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience collaborating with coaches and serving student-athletes. Skills in video editing, graphic design and camera operation. Understanding and/or desire to work with multiple social media accounts and platforms. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail.
