Director of Football External Relations & Alumni Engagement

Target hiring range for this position will be between $100,000 - 125,000 per year or per hour.  Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data

Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Head Football Coach, the Director of External Football Relations & Alumni Engagement is responsible for engaging with Northwestern Football alumni to continue to foster relationships and build connectivity between our Alumni and our Football Program.  The position will also be responsible for driving all external facets of the football program.  This will include working directly with Northwestern Athletics to organize and execute plans around: marketing, season ticket sales, community events, donor relations and fundraising efforts. 

*Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. *

Job Summary:

Specific Responsibilities :

• Foster and maintain all former player relationships, including planning events, (reunions and letter-winners), graduation reception, and developing programming to connect current and former student-athletes (Alumni Mentoring Program).
• Organize and coordinate employer relations, internships, and summer jobs for football student-athletes; coordinate football-specific professional development events in collaboration with Director of Football Player Engagement and NU for Life department. 
• Coordinate and support all aspects of Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) legislation for the football program in conjunction with Compliance, NU for Life and Elite 1876.
• Source and develop relationships that can provide NIL Opportunities for current and future Student-athletes in partnership with Elite 1876. 
• Work in conjunction with NGN to raise philanthropic donations specific to the football program. 
• Serve as the key point of contact for Alumni and Development relations and play a significant role in identifying prospects and garnering philanthropic relationships.
• Partner with Northwestern Athletics staff to help drive all aspects of marketing, community engagement and ticketing that involve Northwestern Football.
• Oversee Honorary Captain program in-season.
• Assist with day-to-day operations including, but not limited to: team travel, pre-season camp, fundraising, post-season travel, recruiting, operations, gameday activities and summer camps. 
• Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference, CSC and the NCAA.
• Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.

Miscellaneous 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

• 5 years’ experience in college or professional football

• Previous experience managing a diverse team 

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Maintenance of CPR, AED and First Aid training

• Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact and establish engaging relationships with a wide variety of constituents. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Previous experience cultivating philanthropic relationships preferred

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

• Familiarity with Northwestern Football strongly preferred
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, CSC, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred
