A degree in business, marketing, sports administration, public relations or related field or equivalent education, training and experience. Some demonstrated professional experience in athletic marketing, development/advancement or a closely related/comparable field.
The Director of the Highlander Club is responsible for the strategic planning, communication, organization, and oversight of the Radford Athletics Highlander Club. This role leads the execution of multiple events, coordinates donor and community relations, and other Highlander Club and athletics-related services and functions as directed by the Director of Athletics.- Develop and oversee a comprehensive communication and marketing plan for donor engagement, stewardship, and cultivation that enhances relationships with athletic donors, former student-athletes, volunteers, and donor prospects.- Define and implement a plan for directing coaches in the process of engaging, cultivating, and stewarding supporters.- Coordinate basketball game day hospitality for the National Bank Courtside Lounge.- Organize Radford Athletics and the Highlander Club signature events to include but not limited to: Athletics Hall of Fame, Red & White Gala, Women’s Sports Leadership Program, alumni reunions, golf fundraisers, and key away game socials. Work closely with volunteer boards and campus partners to execute these events.- Build a strong following for Highlander Athletics through the strategic use of social media, email marketing, quarterly newsletters, and events. Create and manage content on the Highlander Club website.- Engage in some face-to-face meetings with potential donors- Work collaboratively with University Advancement, Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, and Athletics Corporate Sales and Sponsorship program
Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain relationships with both internal and external constituencies including administrators, faculty and staff, volunteer leaders, students, and alumni. The ability to multi-task, work independently, as well as collaborate in a team-based environment. Knowledge of current office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and development software such as Raiser’s Edge.
Previous experience in social media, graphic design, communications, marketing for athletics, event planning, and/or fundraising.
