To raise private gifts from alumni and friends in support of university and departmental fundraising priorities. To build long-term relationships with donors and prospects on behalf of the university and college. To solicit gifts of at least $25k and ranging up to six- and seven-figure gifts to support scholarships, endowment, capital, programmatic objectives, and discretionary funding. To work collaboratively with the Athletic Director on strategic funding priorities. To manage up to 125 assigned prospects, conduct 150 visits/year and submit 20 proposals annually. To steward Athletics’ current donors.
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of related experience.
Documentable success in business, higher education, or sales environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices associated with fundraising or business development.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to handle complex and confidential information.
Highly motivated to make contacts resulting in multiple personal visits each week.
Ability to think strategically and translate that thinking into targeted goals and actions.
Ability to ask for and close major gifts.
Demonstrated skill in making fundraising or sales calls and business presentations.

Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors capable of making gifts of $25k and ranging up to six and seven-figure gifts. Cultivate donor-centric relationships that result in submitting 20 or more proposals annually. Establish and meet an annual revenue goal to be determined based on strategic plans and to meet face-to-face with donors (15 visits per month). Manage all facets of individual giving including discovery visits, strategy development, solicitation, relationship management, reporting, and stewardship.

Create with the Athletic Director, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, coaches, and development leadership team, compelling fundraising ideas to advance the university’s transformation through private investment. Strategize with the Athletic Director and Advancement leadership, the most advantageous approaches to engage prospects and donors. Lead monthly strategy sessions with the development team for the department. Work collaboratively with development colleagues, development leadership team and Vice President to create cultivation and stewardship plans and to participate in the implementation of the donor-centered strategies for both Athletic Department and university wide objectives as applicable.

Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, coaches, and alumni relations and advancement leadership to create alumni engagement plans designed to broaden the reach of the Athletic Department, promote aligned strategies and broaden the donor base.

Provide seamless integration of Athletic Department operations with advancement, development and external relations. Facilitates relationships between corporate and individual donors and Athletic Department personnel. Facilitate relationship building through regular participation in departmental meetings, interaction with coaches, attendance/hosting at sporting events, and participation in award ceremonies and other events organized by Athletics Department staff.

Work with other members of the Athletic Department leadership team to provide communication of college events and activities to donors and key alumni.

Track prospect and donor contacts in a moves management system documenting qualification, engagement or cultivation plans, relationship management, solicitation, and stewardship activity. File contact reports on a weekly basis by entering them in the university’s Banner database.
Will require regular local, regional, and/or national travel. Availability for evening and weekend activities. Will need to work collaboratively with multiple development professionals.
