About the Department:
SMU will join the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Fall of 2024.
SMU has a long and storied history of program-wide success, boasting nine overall national championships, almost 200 team conference championships, over 100 individual national championships, more than 150 NCAA top-10 finishes, nearly 2,000 All-American honors and over 150 Olympic appearances. Over just the past decade, all of SMU's 17 programs have reached the postseason and 15 different programs have won conference championships. SMU is the only NCAA FBS program in Dallas, and, since 2013, has invested over $250 million to develop and enhance championship-caliber facilities.

About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Director of MustangVision Productions will be responsible with the management, vision and growth of the department’s video production services.
Essential Functions:
Lead in-game production/presentation planning; work with marketing with the coordination of game presentation elements; with coordinate sponsorship element with Learfield; the coordination with network broadcasts on site; assist media outlets video highlights of SMU events; lead recruiting and training of student workers and full-time staff.
In-game production/presentation implementation. Producing and editing video content for distribution through multiple platforms, including broadcasts, in-venue videoboards, website and other digital media. Assist with the department’s streaming operations, including premium content, on the department’s website (SMUMustangs.com)
Work with various departments to showcase SMU student-athlete accomplishments through commercial spots, special event presentations, development videos and more. Promote and advance the SMU Athletics brand through cohesive and consistent video.
Lead live broadcast production in various roles from replay, technical director, graphics, TOC, etc... on ESPN
Lead the efforts to recruit and develop part-time, temp, intern and student workers
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Position requires regular evening and weekend work for events, as well as occasional travel with teams for competition.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in broadcast, communications, journalism or a related field.
A minimum of five year of work experience with live video production, video editing, and video board operations is required.
Prior experience working with a NCAA Division I athletic program, professional sports team or large-market or national television networks preferred. Experience with ESPN linear and ESPN+ operations desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. The ability to work in a high-pressure environment with the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines is required.A strong focus to attention to detail is essential. Strong project management skills preferred.
Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of video technology and production equipment to support all forms of video production services. Must also be an experienced user of professional DSLR, ENG, full-frame cameras, and other production equipment such as lighting kits and audio equipment.
Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop. Knowledge of the ANC Vsoft and Ross Xpressions System preferred.
