The Director of Name, Image and Likeness (
NIL
) Services report directly to the Associate AD/Compliance will manage a comprehensive strategy to maximize
NIL
opportunities for Maryland student-athletes. The Director of
NIL
Services will coordinate with key department units including development, sponsorship, compliance, marketing and communications to lead Maryland’s
NIL
Momentum program. The Director of
NIL
Services will collaborate with development staff to support and guide strategic donor-led partnerships (Collectives) and with compliance staff to appropriately manage a comprehensive strategy to maximize
NIL
opportunities for Maryland student-athletes. The Director of
NIL
Services will also be responsible for managing the relationships with external
NIL
partners, including Opendorse, Brandr, and others. Above all, the Director of
NIL
Services will be ultimately responsible for creative and progressive leadership with an entrepreneurial spirit in the rapidly-changing field of
NIL
for Maryland Athletics and Maryland student-athletes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with development staff to grow
NIL
opportunities for Maryland student-athletes through donor-led partnerships (Collectives).
Collaborate with external partners, including Opendorse, Brandr, Playfly and others to maximize
NIL
opportunities for Maryland student-athletes through corporate partnerships.
Collaborate with the Compliance unit to lead student-athlete and staff education about opportunities related to adopted and pending Federal, State, and/or
NCAA
NIL
through key topics including
NCAA
compliance, and help manage the processing and monitoring of student-athlete
NIL
opportunities to ensure
NCAA
, Big Ten, and institutional compliance.
Work with other external departments to provide student-athletes with coaching on personal branding, team culture and dynamics, sourcing and evaluating opportunities and more.
Manage
NIL
questions and requests from internal stakeholders (e.g., student-athletes, coaches, staff, etc.) and external stakeholders (e.g., prospects and their family members, boosters, third-party individuals, local business, etc.).
Work with other external units to generate social media and marketing content to promote Maryland’s
NIL
initiatives, programming, and showcase positive impacts of student-athletes in the
NIL
space.
Oversee Maryland’s agent registration and monitoring process to ensure
NCAA
, Big Ten Conference and institutional compliance.
Monitor social media accounts and other web-based platforms for student-athletes to ensure
NCAA
, Big Ten and institutional compliance.
Stay updated on the latest
NIL
trends, including legislative advancements,
NCAA
compliance regulations and vendor landscape evolutions.
Other related duties as assigned.

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, athletics compliance, or marketing is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Significant working knowledge of the rules and regulations set forth by the
NCAA
and Big Ten.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience in relationship building, exemplary customer service, sales, and/or high-volume project management and coordination.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to multi-task and effectively balance multiple situations.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects according to the severity and importance.

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, ticket printers, fax machines, etc; Regularly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. The scope of this position requires some evening and weekend work with some team travel (Non-standard work hours). Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events; Standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, balancing and lifting up to 20 pounds.
