Position Summary Information
| Primary Purpose |
Under the general direction of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the Director of Player Development/Assistant Coach assists with coaching duties for the Men’s Basketball program, operating under NCAA bylaws, including taking the lead in preparing student-athletes for personal, academic and sport specific success. Assists the head coach with teaching game strategy, training for athletic competition, and participates in the overall coordination of the men’s basketball program.

| Essential Functions |
- Assists head coach with organizing and preparing team practices, including the teaching/coaching of individual student-athletes regarding sport-specific training, development, and preparation for competition.
- Leads, monitors, and coordinates individual training and practice sessions.
- Provides guidance and assistance to student-athletes on a range of personal goals, including academic and athletic development.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach; including the scheduling of facilities, travel management, equipment management, and overall operations of an NCAA Division I men’s basketball program.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Education, Coaching, Sport Science, or related field.
- Two (2) years of related basketball experience: playing, coaching, or player development.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.
- Previous experience coaching or playing at the collegiate level and experience in independent decision making.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Foster a cooperative work environment.
- Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Knowledge of travel/lodging planning, scheduling, organizing and coordinating skills.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.
- Basic computer skills and social media skills.
- Basic understanding of budget oversight and control.
- General knowledge of NCAA, West Coast Conference and University of the Pacific rules and regulations as they pertain to student-athletes and prospective student-athletes.
- Basic knowledge of arranging travel for large groups.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed in both a standard office environment as well as at sports venues. Work is performed during standard business hours, as well as during non-regular office hours to fulfill business needs. Travel may be required.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

| Hiring Range | $66,560.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
