The Director of Sports Information is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of athletics media relations, brand awareness and marketing plans for the MSMC Athletics Department. These duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Director of Sports Information will serve as a member of the MSMC Athletics Leadership Team.
Oversight of all MSMC Athletics social media accounts, web and live-streaming content, press releases, statistics and the overall communication efforts for Mount Saint Mary College’s 24 NCAA Division III teams.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the MSMC Sports Information department.
Manage coverage of all sporting events to include the recruitment, training and supervision of student workers, photographers and work-study students.
Develop and implement the MSMC Athletics Department strategic digital communications plan across all platforms (website, social medial, web stream).
Oversee maintenance of the MSMC Athletics Department social media accounts and develop social media strategies to increase consistency and engagement across a variety of platforms.
Maintain the MSMC Athletics Department website including game results, stories, statistics, student-athlete profiles, rosters, schedules, photo galleries, staff updates, archives and historical data.
Oversee all aspects of pre-game, in-game and post-game communications including game previews, press releases, game stories, statistical coverage, PA announcing and web streaming.
Oversee athletic publications such as game programs, brochures for the annual Hall of Fame ceremony, athletics banquet and summer camps.
Oversight of all live-streaming operations for each home competition using BoxCast.
Serve as the primary point of contact for communication and reporting requirements with the NCAA, Skyline Conference, ECAC and local Hudson Valley news outlets.
Work closely with other athletic department staff for the overall benefit of the college, the department and the general welfare of student-athletes.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or the Vice-President for Students.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, sports management or other related field of study.
2-4 years of experience working in athletic communications, sports management or related field.
Strong written, editorial and verbal skills.
Leadership in managing student workers and full-time staff assigned to assist.
Strong organizational skills and able to multi-task.
Maintain and meet deadlines.
Ability to receive phone calls and email, respond to inquiries and communication with others in an efficient manner.
Knowledge of Sidearm website maintenance and upkeep, all social media and digital platforms, digital photography and live-streaming of athletic contests.
The ability to set-up, troubleshoot and breakdown audio visual equipment for live streaming.
Strong internal and external communicator who is comfortable working with multiple on-campus departments.
Experience with InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, image-editing and web-editing software.
Experience with Sidearm or Presto web platforms, NCAA LiveStats, Stat Crew and Game Changer.
