The Director of Athletics Communications and Operations shall direct the day-to-day event operations and department communications for all McMurry University Division
III
Athletics programs and facilities.

Major/Essential Duties of the Job:
• Provide coordination of all publicity and communications, while serving as the chief public relations officer for the McMurry Department of Athletics.
• Coordinate with University Marketing and Communications to develop messages consistent with University brand.
• Oversee assistant director of athletics communications to help with selected sports.
• Responsible for designing and/or approving all promotional materials.
• Coordinate venue setup and manage game day staff for all home competitions.
• Assist with game management protocols, procedures, coordinate set-up and tear-down for all home events; Communicate with visiting teams and officials.
• Learn the requirements needed to successfully operate all music, scoreboard, and PA duties at assigned athletic events in order to train others.
• Create departmental graphics through the use of Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere and/or iMovie; Direct video creation, editing, and photography
• Direct all department social media accounts.
• Oversee and manage the university athletic website.
• Operate statistical programs as required for assigned sporting events.
• Plan and implement logistical changes or improvements for the athletic department.
• Collaborate with the McMurry Maintenance and Facilities Departments for venue scheduling and event logistics.
• Interact with fans, scholar-athletes, and other faculty/staff members at events with a positive attitude and manner representing McMurry Athletics.
• Maintain confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to medical, academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly affecting the University and/or Athletic Department.
• Adhere to all
NCAA
Division
III
rules and regulations, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rules and regulations, as well as McMurry University athletics department rules and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by the athletic administration staff.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Sports Management, Communications, or other related field. Combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Strong written and oral communications skills; Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to manage game day staff and communicate with other campus departments and McMurry visitors; Ability to lift and move necessary equipment for set up and tear down of facilities; Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, iMovie, and/or statistical programs; familiarity with social media marketing channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.
Must be highly organized and able to work independently on major projects. The ability to work evenings and weekends with occasional travel will be required.
Bachelor’s degree
Previous experience working in a university athletic environment working in Sports Information, Communications, Facilities, or Athletic Administration.
