Saint Leo University is a Division II university located just north of Tampa and is part of the Sunshine State Conference. We are seeking applications for a full-time 12-month Director of Sports Medicine who will provide assistance and support to the Director of Athletics by providing leadership, organization, administrative oversight and evaluation for the Athletic Sports Medicine Department in accordance with NCAA, SSC and Saint Leo Health and Safety initiatives.
DUTIES AND TASKS:

We are seeking applications for a full-time 12-month Director of Sports Medicine who will provide assistance and support to the Director of Athletics by providing leadership, organization, administrative oversight and evaluation for the Athletic Sports Medicine Department in accordance with NCAA, SSC and Saint Leo Health and Safety initiatives.
DUTIES AND TASKS:
Apply Now• Maintain current certifications for Board of Certification and State of Florida Licensure
• Oversight and evaluation of the sports medicine staff
• Coordination of NCAA on-site year-round drug testing
• Sports Medicine liaison for NCAA events and competitions hosted by Saint Leo University
• Proper and timely documentation of all medical records related to the health care of the Saint Leo student-athlete in accordance with HIPAA
• Collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention of injuries and medical conditions
• On-Site evaluation, management, rehabilitation and treatment of athletic injuries
• Communicate with coaches and other sports medicine staff members regarding relevant injuries and illnesses
• Work alongside with physicians on approved care outside the scope of athletic training
• Maintain current policies and procedures manuals/handbooks for Saint Leo Sports Medicine including best practices from the NCAA and NATA
• Orientation of USF Athletic Training Master’s program
• Oversight of inventory and supply requests
• Tracking of annual budget for the Sports Medicine Department
• Oversight and supervision during University camps, clinics and summer tournaments.
• Oversight and supervision of student workers for the athletic training room that includes hiring and scheduling
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the Athletic Trainers on staff
• Provide sport coverage
• Process and organize corresponding information for medical claims on athletic related injuries according to the Saint Leo Medical Bill Payment Policy
• Process payments related to medical claims and provide quarterly year-to-date totals to accounting department
• Creates and implements departmental policies and procedures regarding student-athlete and employee safety and compliance
• Create and maintain weekly schedule for sports medicine employees
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Care and prevention of injuries
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
Excellent record keeping
Minimum 5 years working in sports medicine within an intercollegiate sports medicine environment
or related venue
Ability to work within a team, placing departmental and institutional priorities above personal
advancement
Must be willing to travel with teams as necessary
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
State of Florida Athletic Training License
Experience in a collegiate setting
NATA Certification
First aid, CPR, and AED certified
Physical Demands:
Frequent hours outside the normal university work day, specifically early mornings, evenings, and weekends is required
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch, talk or hear
Occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
