The Assistant Athletic Trainer is primarily responsible for the care and treatment of athletes in the men’s basketball program. The Trainer is focused on prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses to student-athletes (specifically basketball student-athletes and student-athletes in an Olympic sport), and day to day operations of the athletic training facility.
Bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years Athletic Training Experience required.
NATA

CPR
/
AED
certification required as well as eligibility for South Carolina certification. Ability to relate to both men’s and women’s athletic injuries and rehabilitation of injuries required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other staff and the medical community required. Applicants must adhere to all college, conference, and
NCAA
rules and regulations. Applicants must also possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
May be required to work occasional weekend and overtime hours. Noise levels can be high, ear protection may be required. May be required to lift boxes weighing in excess of 30 lbs.

1. Provides injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, short and long term evaluation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student athletes. Assists in the daily health care of the student-athletes. Records and maintains appropriate medical records and treatment given. Provides guidance to graduate interns. Assists in the clinical education of undergraduate athletic trainers. Provides coverage for Athletic Training Room/Rehab, Practices & Games as assigned.

2. Responsible for day to day operations of the TD Arena Athletic Training Room which services all of athletics and student-athletes. Serves as head athletic trainer for the Men’s Basketball and for one additional non-traveling sport, as assigned. Interfaces with various internal and external personnel for referral purposes and information exchange.
