DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Women’s Rowing Operations will manage the daily operations of the University’s NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing program.
Manage the Women’s Rowing budget, annually building off of a zero-based budget. Present the annual budget proposal to the head women’s rowing coach and senior management. Develop budget forecasts and annual reports, monitor, and reconcile expenditures. Oversee equipment and gear orders.
Determine, organize, and direct special events for the Women’s Rowing program including the Women’s Brunch, Washington Rowing Banquet, and any other special events as needed.
Develop and implement community service programs for the Women’s Rowing team including managing the Beyond the Boat life skills program. Create a schedule, manage spaces, and find speakers for the events.
Manage donor communication and gift fulfillment. Coordinate with the Husky Athletics Development team regarding donor events and assist with coordination of alumni events. Serve as the liaison to the Tyee Club to facilitate donor events and build strong alumni relations. Maintain and update the donor and alumni databases.
Serve as the regatta director, race day contact, and visiting team liaison for home athletic competitions. Organize volunteers and race day logistics, coordinate registration, waivers, and permits necessary for each event. Manage support staff responsibilities on race day. Oversee determination and scheduling of appropriate facilities throughout the season for practice, competitions, and clinics in compliance with NCAA practice and play policies.
Serve as the Women’s Rowing liaison for parents, donors, the rowing community, and other collaborative entities. Create correspondence, manage the development and distribution of electronic and print marketing materials, including social media.
Manage Women’s Rowing travel arrangements including hotel contracts, meals, itineraries, and logistics during the regular season and national championships. Work with the athletics travel manager to coordinate flights and ground transportation during team travel.
Work closely with compliance staff to ensure all UW Women’s Rowing actions are compliant. Manage compliance functions such as roster management, participation records, and CARA logs.
Oversee hourly staff. Manage their daily duties and approve time sheets.
The Director of Women’s Rowing Operations will report to the Head Women’s Rowing Coach. Responsibilities that overlap with the Men’s Rowing program may be done in collaboration with the Director of Men’s Rowing Operations where there are shared events, travel, communications, budgets, equipment/supplies, or other functions, as applicable.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and one year of either work experience or a combination of successful experience in competitive playing and/or coaching at the high school, collegiate or professional level.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Preference will be given to candidates with working knowledge or experience in the sport of rowing.
Must be proficient in computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational and communication skills; demonstrated experience in coordinating office management and professional quality writing skills.
Will require work during evenings/weekends and travel as needed.
