Serve as the primary public relations/communications contact for Loyola’s department of Athletics and assigned sport programs Oversight of Athletics Communications staff to aid in learning proper skills, budgetary responsibility, game day experience and day-to-day professional growth. Compile all records, statistical data and biographical information for use on www.loyolaramblers.com and archival purposes Directs the research, development and maintenance of career/season records and statistics for all sport programs and student-athletes. Produce journalistic content for www.loyolaramblers.com including, but not limited to, previews, recaps and feature stories Develop publicity plans for teams, student-athletes and coaches; pitch and execute feature stories for local, regional and national media Manage individual sport social media accounts across all platforms in conjunction with the content and marketing teams Provide on-site game management support at home events for assigned sports, including, but not limited to, media and broadcast coverage Collaborate with Content and Marketing teams on development of ideas for creative content to promote student-athletes, coaches and staff Interview, hire, schedule and train student workers with oversight of 5+ student workers; ensure that students are learning skills while assisting in day-to-day and game day activities related to Athletics Communications. Works closely with Loyola’s Office of University Marketing and Communications to ensure consistent use of University identity/brand identity and to collaborate on story items and/or initiatives that have potential scope beyond Athletics.Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field and at least three-five years of related experiences in a sports information office.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.- General journalism experience preferred.- A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations is required.- Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.- Experience in management and promotion of regional and national tournaments is preferred.- Previous experience dealing with the media on the local, regional, and national level is required.- Ability to work a non-traditional work day/week schedule (evenings and weekends).

Proficient with MS Office suite and familiarity with statistical software. Computer skills, including Desktop Publishing, Internet Website maintenance, and Statcrew/The Automated Scorebook statistical software packages are strong preferred.
