The Athletic Department is seeking a Director, Student-Athlete Development. This is a full-time (1.00
FTE
),12-month, professional faculty position.
The mission of the

Through the direction of the Assistant/Associate Athletic Director, Student-Athlete Development, this position will be responsible for the delivery of programming underneath the Everyday Champions umbrella of the athletic department. The position will be responsible for identifying, organizing, communicating about, and executing all community service and engagement activities. In addition, the position will also be responsible for identifying, organizing, communicating and delivering appropriate personal, professional, and leadership workshops.

CHAMPION
PROGRAMMING
Works with the Student-Athlete Development team to create and schedule personal, professional, and leadership programming for student-athletes on a quarterly and yearly basis.
Tracks and monitors attendance and communicates regularly with internal and external entities about progress for all programming; measures effectiveness and creates metrics for measurement.
Assists with the development and execution of assigned student-athlete clubs and groups, which may include and are not limited to Real Talk/Dam Change, International Student-Athlete Club, Beavs
CARE
, Beaver Advocates,
BAST
, and Beavs BeTrue.
Assists the
EDC
clubs and groups with logistics, meeting planning, goals, meals, recruitment and retention, and other items as necessary.
Serves as a primary point of contact for
EDC
clubs and groups. Is available and on-site for club and group meetings.
Helps create, facilitate, and execute major events within the department; may be responsible to serve as the event chair. Events include, but are not limited to, Beaver Blast Off, Trick or Treat through Truax, The Otherside Talent Show, The Benny’s, and Senior Graduation Ceremony.
Builds relationships with student-athletes through outreach and scheduled one- on-one meetings.
Develops a method to track student-athlete participation in the Everyday Champions programming and events.

COMMUNITY
SERVICE
AND
ENGAGEMENT
Helps determine pillars, goals, and opportunities for community service and engagement.
Organizes and develops the community service calendar in accordance with the designated pillars of community service.
Serves as an on-site contact for community service events and ensures a safe and healthy environment for both student-athlete volunteers and those impacted within the community.
Chairs the community service committee (Beavs
CARE
) within the athletic department.
Tracks and monitors all community service through the Helper Helper database to record hours served, people impacted and the number of participants engaged on a quarterly and yearly basis.
Responsible for activating, engaging and educating new and returning student- athletes with the Helper Helper platform.
Seeks out and develops new relationships within the campus and the Corvallis communities in the area of community engagement. Uses creativity in designing opportunities and creating new partnerships.
Collaborates with the Office of Civic Engagement to encourage student-athlete participation in campus community service efforts.
Promotes and communicates community service opportunities to student-athletes, and coaches and staff as necessary.
Works in collaboration with the compliance department to maintain
NCAA
compliance on all service opportunities.
When necessary, transports student-athletes to and from community service events, which requires the person in this role to maintain a current, valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Responsible for planning, executing, and participating on the annual Beavers Without Borders program; including working with campus partner’s, donors, and student-athletes to create a holistic opportunity to engage in service outside of the Oregon State community.

)
Provides leadership, supervision and guidance to the student-athletes involved with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (
SAAC
).
Supports the athletic department liaison with OSU’s
SAAC
: attends meetings and assists students with content and program development.
In collaboration with the Associate AD, Student-Athlete Development, assists the
SAAC
President and VP with developing the agenda for the all-sport
SAAC
bi-weekly meetings.
Assists the executive
SAAC
group with strategic initiatives, and education on proper meeting protocol, communication following
SAAC
meetings, delegation of responsibility and holding
SAAC
members responsible and accountable.
Assists in designing programming and developing a calendar of events throughout the year, hosted by
SAAC
.
Provides feedback on the sub-committees within
SAAC
; gives advice on the design of sub-committees and their missions, helps rewrite and implement the constitution on a yearly basis.
Assists and guides the
SAAC
Executive Team with their individual position responsibilities.
Assists
SAAC
with any of their initiatives including beaver cup, event planning, and other goals.
Responsible for ensuring athletic department executive administrators are meeting with
SAAC
regularly and ensuring
SAAC
executives are able to interact with administrators.
Assists with reviewing
SAAC
bylaws on a yearly basis and communicating with current
SAAC
President to create an effective and responsible constitution.
Assists with communicating with
SAAC
members, coaches, and appropriate staff regarding effective orders and responsibilities of
SAAC
members.

Helps create content, manage, and post on the Student-Athlete Development social media channels.
Assist with the development of culturally inclusive and socially cognizant marketing/promotional materials that ensure communication to a broad and diverse audience.

Coordinates the awards and recognition process for all student-athletes. Creates a database for nominees, submits award recognition for teams and individuals in accordance with
NCAA
, conference, institutional and general awards.
Notifies appropriate individuals about their role in the process to ensure the correct procedures are followed.
Serves as the lead communicator and works in collaboration with Academics and Communication departments to nominate individuals.
Creates a yearly timeline to nominate student-athletes ahead of deadlines for appropriate awards.

Helps create content, manage, and post on the OSU_SAAC Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Human and/or College Services or related field.
Three years of professional work experience in a student services program within higher education or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Post-Bach Internship and Graduate Assistantship may be substituted for one (1) year of professional work experience each.
Ability to think critically and strategically.
Ability to design and implement new initiatives, with an emphasis in creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Demonstrated computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
Demonstrated work experience with evidence of strong communication skills, both oral and written, and strong organizational, time management, and supervisory skills.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, the ability to take direction, and to communicate in a manner that shows respect and inclusivity for student athletes, student workers, colleagues, and all stakeholders.
Strong interest in learning and developing holistically as a professional; ability to show passion for knowledge about the field and ability to demonstrate openness to interaction with conference and
NCAA
member institutions regarding best practices.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Master’s degree in related field.
Four years of professional work experience in collegiate athletics, specifically in the areas of compliance, academics, and/or student-athlete development. A Post-Bach Internship and Graduate Assistantship may be substituted for one (1) year of professional work experience each.
Former student-athlete experience.
Experience working in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives. Demonstrated successful experience working with a diverse population and understanding of multicultural issues.
Experience facilitating educational workshops to students.
Demonstrated computer background with working knowledge of Adobe software.
Demonstrated successful experience with program development and implementation, club/group creation/management, and the ability to initiate and complete projects independently with specific deadlines.
Demonstrated familiarity with
NCAA
rules and regulations, personal and professional development trends, and campus and community resources and support systems.
NACDA
/N4A member.
Will be required to work on nights and weekends.
