The Grounds Keeper/Equipment Operator under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent or Foreman, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenches, backhoes, trucks and other maintenance equipment. The position will also be involved in daily maintenance operations of the golf course, to include general golf course maintenance duties ie: mowing, trimming, course setup, bunker maintenance, landscaping, irrigation and snow removal.

Position Summary

The Grounds Keeper/Equipment Operator under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent or Foreman, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenches, backhoes, trucks and other maintenance equipment. • Mows fairways and roughs with gang units.
• Operates turf vac, skip-loader, fairway and rough aerifier and boom sprayer for weeds in fairways and rough.
• Operates smaller equipment as directed by his/her supervisor.
• Ensures that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to Equipment Manager immediately.
• Responsible for basic preventative maintenance on equipment as directed by the Equipment Manager or Assistant Superintendent and for returning equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.
• Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment; mechanical aptitude, and ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications

• Chemical Applicators License

Working Environment

• An employee in this job is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and has a risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment may be loud.

Physical Activities

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell and hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.

Work Schedule
40 hours a week, must be able to work weekends

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $23.00-$25.90
