Talladega College seeks a skilled Executive Director of Sports Information and Marketing to build Talladega College’s sports information program. The role is a multifaceted position that combines traditional sports information director duties with innovative marketing and fundraising strategies to enhance the visibility and success of the college’s athletic programs. This role requires a dynamic individual capable of managing multiple responsibilities, from fundraising and marketing to media relations and enhancing the fan experience. The chosen candidate will also work to promote and elevate Talladega College’s Esports program. The Executive Director will be essential in driving revenue, engaging supporters, and promoting the college’s athletic achievements, all while maintaining the integrity and values of the institution.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Strategic Communications and Branding:
Oversee the dissemination of sports information to the media, the public, and other interested parties.
Maintain the athletic department’s brand consistency across all platforms and materials.
Develop and execute strategic communication plans to maintain a positive image of Talladega College athletics.
Content Creation and Management:
Supervise the creation of content for press releases, game programs, and the official athletics website.
Ensure accurate statistics and historical records for all sports are maintained and made available.
Produce engaging content that tells the stories of student-athletes and the athletic department.
Event Management and Operations:
Oversee the coordination of game day operations, including statistics, live streaming, and other media services.
Manage the setup of press boxes and media areas to ensure a professional environment
Coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of event management are executed effectively.
Team and Athlete Support:
Provide support to athletic teams in terms of publicity, statistical analysis, and historical information.
Assist in the nomination process for student-athletes for awards and recognitions.
Ensure compliance with all governing bodies, including the GCAC, NAIA, and NCAA, in terms of statistics and sports information.
Media Training and Relations:
Train coaches and student-athletes in media relations to ensure effective communication and representation of the college.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media to enhance coverage and exposure.
Coordinate media guides, interviews, press conferences, and other media-related activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage the sports information office, including hiring, training, and supervising staff and student workers.
Delegate responsibilities appropriately to ensure efficient operation and coverage of all sports.
Fundraising Strategy:
Develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure financial support for athletic programs, including identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
Organize fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to generate financial resources essential for the growth and success of the athletic department.
Collaborate with the development office to align fundraising efforts with institutional goals and priorities.
Marketing and Promotion:
Create and implement marketing plans to drive revenue, increase visibility, and promote athletic events and programs.
Expand marketing and promotional efforts for TC Esports.
Utilize digital marketing tools and strategies to reach target audiences, enhance engagement, and drive ticket sales.
Explore and establish innovative sponsorship opportunities to generate additional revenue and support for athletic initiatives.
Sponsorship and Donor Relations:
Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors, donors, and alumni to secure financial support and create tailored recognition opportunities for partners.
Steward relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors through regular communication and updates on athletic programs and events.
Digital and Social Media Management:
Oversee the creation and management of digital and social media content to engage fans, promote events, and highlight the achievements of student-athletes and teams.
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to optimize engagement, reach key demographics, and enhance the overall online presence of the athletic department.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, sports management, or related field.
Minimum of five years of experience in sports information, marketing, public relations, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in a leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of sports statistics, scoring, and NCAA compliance regulations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in sports statistics software, desktop publishing, and website management.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
