Summary:
Reporting to the Facilities and Equipment Coordinator, the Facilities and Equipment Specialist supports the planning, development, and execution of game management, ensuring the smooth operation of game day activities, maintains facilities, and oversees the management of equipment and uniforms.
Job Description:
Assists with the planning, organization, and coordination of game management strategies.
Facilitates training and communicates responsibilities to staff, coaches, and student paraprofessionals.
Coordinates home event operations, including the scorer’s table.
Ensures the safe and functional condition of Field House facilities and playing fields through regular inspections.
Assists with procuring, maintaining, and setting up equipment and team uniforms.
Maintains inventory and ensures all equipment remains safe and operational.
Develops, coordinates, and provides comprehensive training related to game management for staff and student event staff on such topics as crowd control, dispute resolution, reporting complaints, protocols, and specific duties during events and emergency procedures; and ensures the fostering of a positive environment for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and fans.
Assists as a Game Management Coordinator and Administrator-In-Charge (AIC) for home athletic events throughout the year, ensuring another qualified staff member is identified as AIC when unable to attend; and supports the resolution of any emergencies or issues that may arise during events.
Works closely with the administration, coaches, and other staff assigned to oversee and manage all logistical needs for the summer sports camps; ensures the set-up of equipment, sporting attire, and other requests for special needs for all camps held in the summer; and partners with camp staff to align logistical efforts with overall camp objectives.
Supports the supervision, training, and mentoring of student assistants/interns; and provides orientation to the position and familiarizes them with the facilities, equipment, and coaches.
Assists in the regular inspection of the Field House and other athletic facilities to ensure only approved individuals are using the facilities and equipment; and facilitates communication between the Department of Athletics and Facilities for any concerns or necessary replacements/improvements.
Coordinates the distribution of game uniforms for all teams and maintains the inventory; and monitors uniform conditions and organizes timely repairs or replacements as needed.
Contributes to the cleaning, repair, and maintenance of equipment and miscellaneous items used by departmental members and student-athletes; and performs related duties such as machine washing, hand-sewing, and mending of uniforms, ensuring tasks are completed to support athletic programs.
Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
Demonstrates a genuine commitment to belonging in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.
Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of two years of experience with athletic administration, event management, or a related area.
Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.

Strong ability to monitor and implement safety protocols related to equipment use, storage, and facilities management.
Strong organizational and leadership abilities with a demonstrated track record in managing staff, events, and facilities within a dynamic environment.
Strong knowledge of a broad range of sports.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills fostering positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and external partners.
Demonstrated ability to work with and across University departments, outside constituents, and groups.
Additional Position Details:
The incumbent must be able to work on evenings and weekends.
The incumbent must possess the CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
The incumbent must be able to lift and carry 50+ lb.
