Golf Course Pro Shop, Staff Attendant

The golf pro-shop staff’s main job is knowledge, hospitality, and customer service. The golf shop staff is the face of the Ohio State University Golf Club. They are the first person guests have contact with when they arrive on property and even before, during phone interactions. It is important for the golf shop staff to have the warmest of welcomes over the phone, when a guest enters the golf shop, or when you are just passing a member in the clubhouse, parking lot, etc. The golf shop staff is here to help answer any questions the guest/customer may have and to accommodate the guests accordingly. The golf shop staff has the duty of knowing and relaying all golf course rules and regulations including spectators, dress code, etc. and to make sure the guest is not left in the dark when it comes to the golf course policy.Â
The golf shop staff is also in charge of maintaining the golf shop itself. Clothing in the golf shop should be neatly folded or nicely hung up on a hanger. Staff should make sure all glass and wood in the golf shop is free of dust. Golf shop staff needs to make sure pencils, scorecards, tees, gloves, and golf balls behind the counter are fully replenished and ready for purchase at all times. The golf shop staff is in charge of keeping their area, behind the counter, clean of debris and garbage that may be seen by customers. Food should never be eaten at the front counter and should be eaten away from the customers. Golf shop staff should never lean or sit on stools or be on their cell phones. A golf shop employee should walk around the golf shop, make sure items are up to par, and engage with members; only go behind the counter when needed.
