Currently with 21 NCAA Division II sports programs, Augustana Athletics is focused on building champions in the classroom, in competition and in the community, highlighted by three team national championships since 2016. Viking Athletics finished #7 nationally in the Division II Learfield Director’s Cup in 2021-22 and also won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All Sports Award. 

Baseball Graduate Assistant Coach 

Augustana University (SD) is seeking qualified applicants for a Baseball Graduate Assistant position, 10-month appointment, averaging 29 hours per week, within our Athletics department. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Assist Head Coach in all day-to-day operations of the baseball program

• Training and skill instruction

• Recruiting – on the road, keeping database up to date, and coordinate on campus visits

• Maintaining hallway display board

• Run all social media platforms with appropriate athletic dept staff within brand guidelines

• Adhere to all NCAA and Conference affiliated bylaws set forth by the governing bodies

• Understand and adhere to the Augustana Athletic Department Manual that outlines general staff conduct

• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree 

• Acceptance into Augustana Sports Administration and Leadership graduate program

• Ability to work on deadline and management several tasks simultaneously with consistent follow-through.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Creative self-starter with ability to exhibit diplomacy and tact while protecting confidentiality.

• Ability to work nights and weekends as typical in collegiate athletics.

• Strict adherence to established NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Former baseball student-athlete
• Baseball coaching experience
• Social media experience
