Role Summary
The Graduate Assistant will provide coaching support to the Women’s Basketball program. This role is designed to provide the student with professional experience in a higher education setting while supporting the operational goals of the department. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can balance their academic workload with coaching, recruiting, instructing, advising, counseling, scouting, and monitoring academics.
Qualifications
Housing, Work Hours & Duties
Athletics GA positions may include the option for on-campus housing as part of the tuition compensation package.
GAs who choose to live on campus are required to work up to 25 hours per week, reflecting additional responsibilities related to both Athletics and Residence Life.
GAs who do not choose the housing option are required to work up to 20 hours per week, focusing primarily on Athletics-related responsibilities .
Primary Responsibilities
Work under the direction of the head coach for the women's basketball program.
Coaching on court, both traditional and nontraditional season
Recruiting - involves traveling to local high school games and showcases throughout the academic year
Instructing, advising, and counseling student athletes, which can be in a team setting or one-on-one
Scouting game - watching film, breaking it down, and providing that information to the head coach and team
Monitoring academic progress, which involves attendance, Navigate Alerts, mid-term grades, and team study hall.
Serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes and represent Albertus Magnus College in a professional, responsible, and positive manner.
Follow all NCAA, GNAC, and Athletics Department guidelines.
Foster a culture of compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, and to assist with the promotion of an environment of institutional control over intercollegiate athletics by Albertus Magnus College.
Eligibility & Requirements
Enrollment: Must be currently accepted in a Master's program at Albertus Magnus College in one of the following areas:
Accounting (only two spots available)
Business Administration
Criminal Justice
Management and Organizational Leadership
Healthcare Administration (only two spots available)
Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in [Microsoft Office/Google Workspace].
Previous experience at the collegiate, club, and/or scholastic levels as a student-athlete and/or coach.
Knowledge of collegiate rules and a demonstrated compliance with said rules.
Relevant work experience may be substituted to meet qualifications for the position.
