Apply NowThe Graduate Assistant Dance Team Coach supports the Director of Owl Spirit in the leadership and organization for all aspects of the William Woods Dance program. This is to include monitoring the academic and athletic development of the student athletes; while observing, evaluating, and recruiting student athletes. The assistant coach is responsible for following the University’s coaching guidelines, expectations including the rules and regulations of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) and the AMC (American Midwest Conference).
• Have an understanding of the sport of dance.
• Be able to communicate effectively the understanding of the sport.
• Be able to properly demonstrate the understanding of the sport.
• Assist in practice planning and set up.
• Assist in any team activity or event pertaining to the Dance Program.
• Conduct themselves in a professional manner consistent with the values of the university.
• Actively promote the university.
• Assists in recruiting quality student-athletes.
• Coordinate and provide administration for some home events.
• Assist in on and off campus Champions of Character activities.
• Assist in travel accommodations and communications.
• Work in conjunction with Strength and Conditioning Coach.
• Work in conjunction with Athletic Training Staff.
• Assist in home and away game duties
• Performs duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
• Bachelor’s degree required, acceptance in to William Woods graduate program required.
• Must have demonstrated ability in: leading an athletic team; fundraising and revenue development; budget development.
• Preferred knowledge of and commitment to NAIA rules; preferred knowledge of Champions of Character program and commitment to its principles and goals.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to speak publicly without difficulty.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day.
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
• Ability to speak and read English fluently.
• Must possess a Missouri driver’s license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Graduate Assistants work an average of 25 hours per week; more during the competition season and less during the off season. The Graduate Assistant is not required to work during the summer months, but may continue to live in campus housing (if awarded) and continue taking classes.
Compensation :
Compensation includes full tuition in a master’s program and board when the campus dining facility is open.
