Graduate Assistant for Football (Defensive Line)
Part-time, 9-month, Temporary, Non-benefited

Position Description
Valley City State University is searching for a Graduate Assistant for the football program on the defensive side. Responsibilities include developing, directing, and advancing competitive programs. This position will help identify, recruit, and select quality student-athletes; assist in the organization and planning of practice and competitive strategies in their specialty; oversee athletes’ skill and physical development; monitor student-athletes’ academic progress, performance, and retention, lead and motivate student-athletes to maximize their potential; assist with administrative duties; enforce team rules; demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and commitment to compliance with Valley City State University, Frontier conference/NAIA national policies, rules, and regulations. This position will participate in program and departmental fundraising, public relations, and promotional efforts; participate/coach/teach in program camps/clinics for the football program; and work effectively with department support services personnel to enhance the welfare and personal, social, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree by the start date, experience coaching or playing football, and acceptance into the VCSU Graduate program by the upcoming academic year are required.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience coaching and playing football at the collegiate level, training experience necessary to compete at the NAIA level, highly motivated with an outstanding work ethic, strong organizational skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, proficient with Microsoft Office programs, a valid driver’s license, ability to recruit and communicate with highly talented student-athletes, and knowledge of the Frontier conference and NAIA national policies, rules, and regulations are preferred.
