Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the management of softball, planning, and implementing practice sessions. Providing input and other coaching-related duties for home and away events. Recruiting qualified, prospective student-athletes as allowed by NCAA rules and analyzing video tapes of potential student-athletes for recruitment. Planning and implementing camps and clinics. Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach.

Essential Job Duties

This position is a ten-month (August-May) appointment and provides a competitive compensation package that includes 18 credit hours tuition waiver for graduate degree classes and a stipend (over 10 months) provided by the university. The Graduate Assistant reports to the Head Softball Coach. Duties include: Assist in the organization of team camps; marketing team camps; recruiting campers; assisting in budget preparation for the camps, managing camp income generated by registration, concessions, and merchandise sales. Assisting with the oversight of the student-athletes academic achievement. Conduct inventory management of athletes’ gear and equipment. Assist in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of student camp workers. Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct becoming of the teaching, coaching, and/or business profession. ** Union University is committed to strict compliance with any and all rules and regulations of the NCAA and the Gulf South Conference. Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree is required. Acceptance into a post-bachelor’s academic program at the University, as well as full-time course registration into the same program of study is also required.
