Graduate assistantships are intended for students who have demonstrated high academic performance at either the undergraduate or graduate level and would like to gain professional experience in their field.
An appointment requires acceptance into a DSU graduate program.
Assistantship renewal depends upon maintaining satisfactory work and academic performance.
Graduate assistants must maintain the criteria of the respective graduate program to remain in good standing.
The assigned assistantship supervisor will evaluate work performance.
Graduate assistantships may not be renewed if there is unsatisfactory performance documented.
Work performance reviews must be based on the job description and observation and submitted to the department chair or appropriate director and Education Programs and Data Coordinator.
Current assistantships are evaluated each semester and awarded/renewed on an annual basis.
This position is conditional upon an acceptable background check.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in general preparation for weekly practices and competitions, travel, inventory, and data entry.
Work Hours/Pay Rate:
Graduate Assistants will work at least 10 hours each week but not more than 20 while classes are in session, and no more than 40 when classes are not in session.
A stipend of approximately $7,500 will be paid over the duration of the assistantship, usually fall and spring semester (ranging approximately from August 1 to May 31). This may be pro-rated.
