The Athletic Department is seeking a qualified individual for a two-year term as a Graduate Assistant Coach to help in all phases of a highly successful NAIA Women’s Volleyball program. This position will allow you to utilize your skills on the job, and in the classroom, as you pursue your Master’s degree.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate understanding of, and commitment to, the mission of ONU and the ONU Athletics Department.
Assist the head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training sessions, and competitions in alignment with ONU Athletics’ philosophy and sound coaching principles.
Support the development and implementation of workout programs and training routines aimed at improving athletic performance.
Help implement and supervise athletic training, strength, and conditioning sessions; provide technical instruction and guidance to student-athletes as appropriate for the sport.
Participate in fundraising, marketing, promotional, and community engagement activities as assigned.
Perform administrative tasks such as ordering, maintaining, and inventorying equipment, along with other responsibilities as assigned.
Assist the head coach in scheduling and coordinating home and away contests in accordance with conference and AIA requirements, including preparation and submission of required documentation.
Maintain records and statistics during games as directed; motivate student-athletes using strategies consistent with the mission and philosophy of ONU Athletics.
Exhibit exemplary sportsmanship in interactions with student-athletes, staff, officials, and opponents, in alignment with NAIA standards of ethical conduct.
Stay current on sport-specific regulations, rule changes, and NAIA policies.
Manage time effectively in a demanding and fast-paced work environment.

Assist with recruiting efforts, including identifying prospects, supporting outreach and communication, coordinating logistics for visits, and maintaining recruiting records as directed by the head coach.
Coordinate team travel arrangements.
Oversee ordering, distribution, and management of team apparel and equipment.
Assist in preparing and/or reviewing scouting reports.
Support video operations, including video exchange, editing, and statistical analysis.
Comply with all institutional, conference, and NAIA bylaws and regulations.
Promote and protect the physical, emotional, and social well-being of student-athletes by helping establish and maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Support the head coach in monitoring, enforcing, and modeling compliance with all NAIA bylaws, policies, and procedures.
Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and skill development
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Must hold a valid US driver’s license and willing to drive team busses
Adaptability and a growth mindset
Former college player that has played on high level program
Student assistant coaches and /or players involved with the club coaching ranks
Must be accepted into an ONU Graduate program
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree is required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graduate Assistant Coach will assist in the supervision of student managers and players. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Monthly stipend of $1,200 for 2-year programs, and $700 for 1 year programs
