Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in coaching the university¿s baseball program and the Sports Complex field and facility maintenance and management.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning and managing practices and game day activities. (15%)

  • Instructs, coaches, and motivates players.

• Recruits student athletes. (5%)

  • Attends high school games.
  • Evaluates players.
  • Communicates with coaches and players.

• Advises and monitors the academic progress of student athletes. (5%)

  • Provides advice and support to struggling students.
  • Monitors student athletes¿ community service.
  • Ensures compliance with eligibility requirements.

• Maintains equipment and supply inventory. (5%)

  • Purchases program equipment.
  • Submits requisitions for equipment purchases.

• Coordinates team travel. (5%)

  • Reserves transportation for away games.
  • Prepares expense reports and travel authorizations.
  • Coordinates meals and hotels.

• Field Maintenance and facility operations (55%)

  • Organize and conduct general field maintenance at the Sports Complex fields
  • Assist with general complex upkeep and improvements
  • Develop and implement maintenance and fertility schedules

• Performs a variety of related duties. (10%)

Required Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.
• More than one year of related experience required.
• More than one year of related experience in field maintenance.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver¿s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of athletic grounds maintenance and fertilization schedules.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate sports.
• Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.
• Knowledge of baseball rules and procedures.
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
• Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.
