POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible to the Athletic Director. The position is full time and offers benefits as specified in the staff handbook. The Head Athletic Trainer is charged with managing the health care of participating student-athletes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head Athletic Trainer is charged with managing the health care of participating student-athletes.
This includes, but is not limited to, first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate therapeutic modalities, injury prevention, injury rehabilitation programs, medical referrals, incident report claim forms, and insurance claim forms
The Head Athletic Trainer will cover pre-season physicals, practices, home sporting events, and any sports related events throughout the contract year.
The Head Athletic Trainer must order, maintain, and inventory supplies and clinical equipment.
The Head Athletic Trainer is also required to teach a Sports Injuries class.
The Head Athletic Trainer will supervise two assistant certified athletic trainers and student workers.
Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)
DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS
This position works solely with the Athletic Department in keeping good communication lines with coaches in regards to their student-athletes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The Head Athletic Trainer will demonstrate skills in proper taping, strapping, and bracing.
They must be able to demonstrate interpersonal skills required to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, other team personnel, and other health care professions.
Must be able to meet physical demand s of job: Must be able to assist with or transfer athletes of various weight/heights. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills, and be able to walk long distances.
Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
Must agree to, sign off on, and abide by the standards of employment on the back of the application, on the yearly contract, and in the staff handbook.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from CAATE accredited program
NATABOC certification and Missouri state licensure required.
At least 2 years of experience in athletic training environment.
Current CPR/First Aid certification required.
PREFERRED
Minimum of three years of proven experience in the area of management, accounting, budget planning and human resources
Previous experience in Christ-centered higher education and non-profit accounting
