The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for administering all facets of the athletics training program. Position Summary:
The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for administering all facets of the athletics training program. Provide leadership, direction, and expertise in athletic training services to all sports teams and coaches within athletic training rooms, home games, away games, and practices. Prevent, recognize, and assess athletic injuries. Develop and administer rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries using appropriate therapeutic modalities and treatments. The Head Athletic Trainer will be responsible for all related administrative work and supervision of other athletic trainers.
Provide comprehensive care for all injuries and illnesses sustained by student athletes.
Provide lead direction to other athletic trainers, including assisting in employee selection, scheduling, and assigning of work, reviewing work of other Athletic Trainers, and providing input for performance evaluations.
Monitor rehabilitation plans and progress.
Maintain a medical file for each student-athlete, including written records of all care rendered.
Assign athletic trainers to ensure needed coverage for practices, home events, and team travel and coordinate temporary athletic training staff scheduling.
Provide support, as needed, for all practice sessions on campus. Be on call for all teams practicing off campus.
Foster relationships among trainers, the team physician, other attending physicians, health services, coaches, athletes, and parents.
Adhere to university policies, state and federal laws concerning Title IX, HIPPA, and FERPA policies and ensure compliance with provisions of the NCAA and our athletic conferences.
Oversee the maintenance of athletic training facilities and equipment.
Prepare and maintain the sports medicine budget. Prepare an inventory list for Fall orders. Coordinate with AD all equipment needing servicing or replacement.
Assist the head coaches with injury prevention and physical conditioning.
Assist in special events and tournaments, championships, fundraisers, and/or clinics.
Coordinate drug prevention programs and drug testing requirements for student-athletes.
Oversee the usage and updating of Healthy Roster for coaches, compliance, and emergencies.
Monitor, review, and verify injury reports and medical records and take appropriate action as required. Ensure proper maintenance and confidentiality of all medical records and follow insurance processing and procedures.
Maintain insurance records.
Monitor and verify insurance billings and advise athletic administration on all major injuries and treatment not covered by student-athlete’s insurance.
Act as a liaison to the campus Health Center
Serves on committees as requested.
Participates in Athletic Department programs and activities.

Experience:
Master’s Degree Required
Current National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) certification required.
Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA or relevant governing body rules and regulations.
Minimum of 3 years of college athletic training experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
Availability for evening and weekend travel and work as required is essential.
Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities are essential.
Preferred experience with collision sports at the college level
