The Head Athletic Trainer directs and leads student athletes within the college’s and athletic department’s mission statement and within the guidelines of the principles of NCAA Division III membership.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating and administering and delivery of sports medicine services to all student-athletes at MSMC.
Supervise the Assistant Athletic Trainer
Coordinate and schedule all athletic training services for team practices and competitions
Injury prevention, evaluation, management and treatment of athletic injuries
Short-term and Long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries
Education and counseling of student-athletes
Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and athletics related health care administration
Provide emergency medical coverage during athletic events/practices/travel for teams
Refer injured/ill athletes to team physicians/consultants regarding injuries/illnesses/care
Maintain medical/administrative records
Work closely with the Director of Athletics in the purchasing, managing and accounting for all athletic training room supplies consistent with institutional purchasing procedures
Represent the college at athletic meetings pertaining to Athletic Training. This includes Skyline Conference meetings, NCAA, BOC, and meetings with other conference member institutions
Supervise cardio, weight and aerobic room management
Assumption of other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. BOC Certification, New York State licensure or eligibility, AED/PR/CPR Certification.
Three to Five years of full-time, professional experience in athletic training.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Demonstrated flexibility and professionalism, with a high standard of personal conduct and integrity.
Ability to work independently and will be required to work evenings and weekends.
