The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for assisting in the management and administration of the total athletic trainers program, generally dealing with prevention, evaluation, care, and rehabilitation of student athlete injuries.
Provide coverage of sport(s) daily practices and home/away games
Counsel injured/sick student-athletes
Assist in scheduling medical appointments for student-athletes
Follow-up on results of evaluations/tests by medical providers
Assist in the recruitment of prospective student workers
Assist in the supervision of Athletic Training interns and student workers
Supervise field/court setup and breakdown of daily designated sport(s) practices and games; travel with designated sport(s) to away competitions
Maintain accurate and up-to-date injury records, daily treatment records and other medical forms on student-athletes
Assist with the insurance claim process on injured student-athletes
Coordinate and supervise pre-participation examination of assigned student-athletes
Assist with inventory storage, distribution and maintenance of supplies
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or a related field from an accredited college or university with at least one (1) year of work experience on a collegiate level.
Requirements
Candidate must have
NATABOC
Certification, at the time of hire. Candidate must be eligible for Maryland State Licensure A
CPR
and First Aide certification is required.
A Master’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field from an accredited university is preferred.
