Description

Hampden-Sydney College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference is accepting applications for Head Baseball Coach. Reporting to the Athletics Director, the Head Baseball Coach supports the mission of the College by leading and managing all aspects of the College’s baseball program, developing and executing effective coaching strategies, recruiting talented athletes, overseeing team practices and games, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring the overall success and growth of the program. Head Baseball Coach provides the strategic oversight of the department and supervision, guidance, and leadership to Assistant Baseball Coaches. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.

Duties

Coordinates the overall baseball program to ensure the proper teaching and coaching of the sport within the policies of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and Hampden-Sydney College. Supervises the program to include recruiting, budget, facilities and the general welfare of student-athletes participating in Baseball.

Develops comprehensive and innovative coaching strategies that enhance the team's performance and competitive edge. Plans, organizes, and leads effective practice sessions to improve players' skills, game understanding, and physical conditioning. Provides personalized coaching to players, helping them reach their maximum potential and contributing to their individual growth as athletes.

Identifies and recruits talented student-athletes who align with the program's values and contribute to the team's success. Develops and maintains relationships with high school coaches, AAU programs, and other sources to identify and attract top prospects. Manages the recruitment process, including evaluating prospects, conducting campus visits, and coordinating with admissions offices.
