Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a part-time Head Bowling Coach to join our Athletics team. The Head Bowling Coach is responsible for building and maintaining a roster of student athletes, preparing a team through training, and coaching the team in all season competitions. The Head Coach is evaluated on student athlete satisfaction, mentoring of student athletes and alumni engagement as well as consistently fielding a competitive team.
This is a Part-time position during the academic year that works in the evenings; weekends as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist with recruitment and maintain a roster of qualified and quality student athletes that fit the university mission.
- Conduct and as appropriate in season training sessions. Duties include but not limited to strength and fitness training, teaching and drilling skills, teaching game strategy and tactics, psychological and motivational preparation.
- Assist with monitoring academic progress of student athletes while fostering a student-centered focus for the team.
- Learn and follow all NCAA rules to make sure you are staying within NCAA guidelines and compliance.
- Remain current in emerging trends in bowling activities.
- Schedule team games.
- Assist in budget preparation and monitor and follow team budget.
- Effectively hire and develop a staff for the team to assist in all aspects of team operations.
- Create a culture of engagement and participation for all team members for the achievement of desired goals.
- Develop and nurture relationships with MSOE staff members and academic faculty.
- Provide a means to account for professional development through participation in national organizations and national training clinics.
- Support university activities that help to engage the greater MSOE community.
- Attend required conference meetings.
- Work with the training staff to complete all necessary forms and arrange physicals.
- Organize team post season banquets.
- Maintain CPR/AED certification per NCAA rule.
- Submit training/practice schedule for facility use.
Qualifications
- BS/BA required; master’s degree preferred.
- Coaching and/or leadership experience related to team operations and development.
- Understanding how to achieve team goals to serving the mission of the department and University.
- Experience in working and supporting a diverse work environment.
- An appreciation and understanding of the latest climate and challenges facing small private universities.
- Demonstrated an appreciation for recruiting today’s student athlete.
- Demonstrated an appreciation for developing and implementing an alumni engagement process.
Skills and Abilities
- Possess both strong oral and written communication skills.
- Have to ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Ability to use numbers to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Demonstrate the ability to use math for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
- Ability to use data to help inform decision making.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply university policies to help provide a safe and equitable work environment.
- Ability to apply practical solutions to problems to sustain an environment that complies to NCAA requirements while working within the framework of the university.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus. There is occasionally light lifting of boxes, no more than 50lbs., of materials, and pulling / pushing of carts, to transport items needed for events.
- Ability to traverse the landscape of ice and carry equipment up to twenty pounds.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
