Position Summary:
The Cheer Coach is the leader of the cheer team. The Cheer Coach guides student leaders as they learn how to run a cheer team, runs weekly student leader meetings to check in on progress and address areas of improvement. Runs rehearsals, helps students improve technique and organizes game day experience/schedule/try-outs and trips. This position reports directly to the Sr Associate AD for External. The season officially runs from August - March with tryouts in April. Practices are Monday - Thursday from 7-9 pm with weekday and Saturday games.
Job Duties:
Coach
Help student coaches enforce policies to maintain program integrity. Guide student leaders as they learn how to run a cheer team.
Run weekly student leader meetings to check in on progress and address areas of improvement. Organize, facilitate, advertise, and judge a yearly tryout with student leaders.
Attend weekly practices and trains team in techniques as well as create strengthening programs to help them stay fit and strong to execute choreography.
Assist student coaches as they clean routines and run practices.
Monitor attendance, and any conflicts that may occur whether it be medical emergencies or student relations. Attend all Football and Basketball games and coordinates with Athletic directors for promotions.
Review all program documents and updates as needed. Orders merchandise as needed.
Enforce all safety protocols and make sure that all processes are up to date with UNC standards.
Communication and Administration
Run outreach program: creating brochures, arranging clinics with kids and high school students, getting in contact with Colorado high schools and studios to spread awareness, and organizing promotional performances, Research new trends and make sure the team is up-to-date and competitive with other college cheer team programs.
Communicate with UNC staff for reserving space and getting involved in campus activities.
Track and approve steam purchases.
Run social media accounts during games.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in coaching Cheer Teams and working with students from a diverse background in a High School (HS) or Higher Education (HE) setting.
This position requires a great flexibility in terms of work schedule. Some weekend and evening events are required. The majority of work is in an on-campus office environment. This position involves the training and supervision of students as well.

Background Check
