Wilson College is currently seeking applications for the role of Head Coach of Esports. The Head Coach will report to the Vice President for Student Development and will be responsible for managing all aspects of the competitive esports program in accordance with conference and college policies. In addition, the Head Coach will be expected to uphold the department's mission, maintain the highest level of integrity, recruit qualified students, and ensure student success both in and out of the competitive arena.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

_ Administration _

• Maintain highest level of integrity in the administration and operations of the sport
• Complete sport scheduling for competitions and practices within established parameters
• Participate in sports-affiliated business (i.e. conference calls, meetings, committees)
• Secure and supervise assistant coach(es), game staff, and volunteer coach(es) if/when needed.
• Propose budget and administrate all aspects of team fiscal operations
• Purchase and maintain all necessary equipment and uniforms within established budget
• Perform administrative tasks and complete requests for information as assigned
• Monitor eligibility status and promote academic success of students
• Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness and security of the esports facility

_ Coaching _

• Recruit and retain students to maintain required roster size for selected teams
• Organize effective practice and training to aid in skill development for traditional and non-traditional seasons (where applicable) preparing team for competitiveness within the mission
• Develop working relationships with all facets of the division of student development
• Maintain up to date sport rule knowledge and a working knowledge of esport rules and regulations
• Serve as a role-model for team members enforcing department expectations regarding standards of behavior
• Strive to maintain highest possible standard for the team’s competitive value

_ Miscellaneous _

• Attend all department meetings, initiate pre/post-season meetings with the VPSD
• Foster relationships with alumni, community members, and potential donors

COMPETENCY:

• Task management skills/organizational ability/time management and strong social /communication skills
• Ability to manage difficult situations and the stress associated with them
• Maintain highest level of integrity in the administration and operation of the sport

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTES:

• Secure and supervise assistant coach(es), game staff, and volunteer coach(es)
• Serve as role-model for team members enforcing department expectations regarding standards of behavior

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• 11-months, full-time, exempt level position
• Variable hours dependent on needs of department. Must have ability to work evenings, weekends and evenings and flexible hours.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field preferred
• 2-4 years of successful coaching at the high school or collegiate level

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
